Reserve List
1. Players may only be added to the reserve list if they have rookie eligibility(< 130 AB/50 IP/40 appearances).
2. Reserve players may be obtained by either drafts or thru Yahoo waivers/FA rules. The process to add via Yahoo waivers/FA is to first claim the player then transfer by trade proposal/request. Roster spots vacated by transferring reserve eligible players may be filled by waiver/FA thru Yahoo. 3. Reserve players may remain on the reserve list the entire year they are obtained or may be added to the Yahoo roster. However, if they are added to the Yahoo roster they may only be placed back on the reserve list only if they are sent down by their MLB team and have < 130 AB/50 IP or 40 appearances. Promote reserve players at your own risk
4. Reserve players that have met or exceeded rookie limits (130 AB/50 IP/40 appearances) must be included in the following years 15 major league keepers list or become FA. Player(s) with rookie eligibility may be kept on the following years reserve list in lieu of reserve draft pick(s)

Ken,
I wasn't aware that we came to a final decision last season regarding the Reserve List. I know some were for it, some against it, and a couple that didn't care either way. If you are just going to go ahead with it, can you explain it a bit more. I read the outline, but I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
Basically you are saying that you can pick up a rookie (not on any team's 25 man rosters - but can be on the 40 man roster) in the draft or via yahoo during the season and add that player to a specific reserve list? Is this list ran on CSC or via yahoo? Point number 3 above is kind of confusing regarding the 30 man roster.
Thanks.
Brian

There were only two that were against it and the rest were in favor of it or indifferent. Of the two against it one is gone this year and I believe the other is pretty much indifferent to it now. The overall majority were in favor of having it.
This first year anyone with rookie eligibility may be drafted and added to the list. It will be kept both on proboards and Yahoo. The reason for the for #2 was that I thought that it didn't make since to add someone to a minor league/reserve list that was actually on a 25 man MLB roster. This practice takes place in another league I'm part of and I just don't agree it. I think it defeats the purpose of a minor league list.
Point number 3 is supposed to read like rule 4a & 4b of CSC Franchise League. I'll change "Reserve Players" to "Rookies" or Rookie eligible players.
There are traits of three different leagues making this Rookie List.
Nothing is set in stone yet and can be changed. Notice I removed 1 scoring category from Batters & Pitchers making it a 6x6. I would like to kep it 7x7 since I like K/BB but I wanted to remove Doubles from the Batters scoring. Too much redundancy for my taste with the slugging% included in the OPS.
More discussion welcome.

I have youngsters on my end of year roster from last year. Are these players eligible to be on my Rookie Reserve?

I have youngsters on my end of year roster from last year. Are these players eligible to be on my Rookie Reserve? Yes...but they would have to be included in your 15 keepers. After the draft you would then transfer them to the minor league list. However, those empty spots must be filled after yahoo opens via waiver/FA or trade. Next season eligible minor league players can be carried over on the rookie/reserve list separate from the 15 yahoo keepers.

You can make it quite different and make it an 8x8 league....make it a bit unique....offers more categories of scoring and different than other leagues we play in. Although since we've been in this league a while, it would be prudent to make sure that it is voted on to make the change in scoring. Then I think it would be cool to list like 3 or 4 pitching and 3 or 4 hitting categories to vote on to add and then out of the say 4 hitting and 4 pitching categories, the top 2 vote getters gets added to the mix. Just throwing thoughts out there......
In regard to the rookie stuff, makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up. I would say though, there may be quite a bit of trading rookies and such prior to this draft trying to get things straightened out prior to the season. There is no rookie draft correct? So basically the only time we can pick up a "rookie" is via yahoo and drafting prior to the season. So if yahoo doesn't have that rookie available during the season, then you have to wait until next draft to pick try and get that rookie?

I wanted to make it a bit unique so it was different then just being Geeks Keeper League Jr. or lite...I can't see a big problem removing "Doubles" I'm not sure where anyone would build a team based on doubles. I would like to retain the K/BB and wouldn't mind doing an 8x8...Triples maybe but not Doubles. There are many, many, many categories to choose from. Feel free to run with this if you get the time.
The trading of rookies is okay...just remember for this year only[/b] the rookies must be included in your 15 keepers. I wouldn't be opposed to implementing the use of the 2 reserve spots separate from the 15 Yahoo keepers for this off season if everyone[/u] was in agreement.
As for a rookie draft...Yes there will be a separate rookie/minor league/reserve draft immediately following the regular 15 round major league draft. It will be two rounds in the same order as the 15 round draft.
I tried to keep this simple but may be making it a little confusing with my wording so I'll say it this way.
Rookies=Minor League players=Reserve list players. These are all interchangeable...hope this clarifies it.

Ken, we can start moving the discussion to the discussion thread if you want; but I would suggest if you plan on doing the rookie draft after the major league draft, then don't allow the extra 2 reserve spots to be used as part of the keepers for this year. Meaning, if someone wants to keep rookies from last year's roster then they have to include them on their 15 man keeper list.

That is exactly what I'm trying to say for this coming (2013) year. 2014 keepers will be 15 + up to two eligible milb players( may be kept in lieu of minor league 2 Rd. draft.). I have youngsters on my end of year roster from last year. Are these players eligible to be on my Rookie Reserve? Yes...but they would have to be included in your 15 keepers. OK, I think I'm with you. But, if a "rookie" passes 130 ABs during the season and is then sent down, would he not be able to be put back on reserve list? Just checking.

No he could not go back onto the reserve list/minor league team if he passes the 130 AB limits. Thinking about it, maybe it would be better to allow them to be placed back on the reserve list. It could be a disadvantage to saddle a contending team with a dead roster spot. I'll give this some more thought...I really want to keep it simple.

That's kind of why we did the "passes the thresholds before the season" thing in CSC.

I edited the original Reserve List and after more thought I decided to keep it simple (my main objective). So I'm going to stick with the eligibility requirements.

The specific list will appear on both the Yahoo league Commish note & Proboards league site. There will also be a reserve team as part of the league to accommodate those players in the database.
