[glow=red,2,300]The League Rules[/glow]
1. KEEPER LISTS:
a.) Each team will designate a 20-man Major League Keeper List based on their final roster from the prior season (including called-up prospects).
b.) Each team will also maintain an ongoing "20-man Minor League Keeper List" on this website.
2. SCOPE OF OWNERSHIP:
a.) End of year rosters are the result of many years of drafting and trading. While replacement owners may come and go, CSC League Management assumes no responsibility for ill-advised transactions from prior owners.
b.) Each team maintains full ownership of their franchise's minor league system, unless a prospect is traded in real life & the player was not on the designated 20-man Minor League Keeper List.
3. THE DRAFT:
a.) From Season 2 forward, there will be a 10-round major league draft and a 4-round minor league draft, with the draft order being in reverse order of team standings from the previous year. The result from the major league draft will be the 30-man roster to start the season.
b.) The Major League and Minor League Drafts will be snake style drafts, going in reverse order of the final playoff standings from the prior year.
c.) Draft time window is 7am - 12pm EST
d.) Draft expiring time (for each owner) will be 5 hours
e.) Players and picks can be traded during the draft.
f.) Drafted players for the major league draft can come from all non-keeper major league players or unowned minor leaguers.
- Prospects may be drafted in the Major League portion of the draft, but any prospects named to the major league 30-man roster who are not in the Yahoo database will force the owner to carry an empty roster slot in the Yahoo league site.
g.) Drafted players for the Minor League Draft can only come from un-owned franchises (e.g., Diamondbacks, Reds, Braves, etc. prospects that were not owned last year and/or not on someone’s protected list) and could possibly include international players (see 5.b below regarding drafting international players for the minor league draft).
h.) Prior to the Major League and Minor League drafts, teams will ensure their 20-man Minor League Keeper List is updated and will help identify owned prospects from other franchises.
4. PROSPECT RULES:
a.) If one of your minor league prospects (either from your 20-man Minors list or not on your list) is brought up to the majors, you have the choice to keep him on your 20-man Minors List or to call him up to your major league roster.
b.) If the player/prospect is sent back down (optioned), you can take him off of your Major League Roster and send him back to the minors (and put on the 20-man protected list if you choose) ---only if he has not eclipsed the preseason thresholds laid out in line "Rule 4c" below. Players who eclipsed the thresholds prior to the current season, but are optioned to the real-life minors, would become free agents if removed from your roster.
c.) If a prospect does not attain, or equal to, 1.) 225 at-bats 2.) 80 innings pitched by the end of the previous season, then he does not have to be added to your Major League keepers at the designated time prior to the next season. If the prospect does exceed any of the outlined thresholds, he must be added to the major league keepers prior to the designated deadline (which will be established each year) leading up to draft for each season. If he is not added to your keepers by the deadline, the player/prospect will be open for drafting by you and any other league manager in the draft.
d.) If the promoted prospect is placed on the major league roster, the only way to put him back on to the 20-man Minors list, is if he is sent down by his real-life major league team.
- However, if you acquired the prospect via the Major League fantasy draft and he is then sent down (in real life), you may not send him down to your minor league system.
- If you trade for a prospect on someone else's major league squad that was drafted in the major league draft, then you also need to keep him on your major league roster. (This is intended to discourage drafting minor leaguers in the major league draft)
- If you trade for a prospect on someone else's major league roster that was brought up from the minor league system, then you may send him down (unless they eclipse rule 4c).
e.) If a promoted prospect is on your final 30-man roster to end the season (reflecting fantasy roster adds from September call-ups), then he must be on your 20-man keeper list designated before the draft. If the prospect is sent down following spring training and didn't reach the thresholds in the prior year, then traditional rules apply as the season begins. The intent of the keeper designation is to name 20 from your final 30 of the prior season.
f.) Any prospect that is not drafted in the Minor League Draft will be left to that original team (i.e., Pittsburgh Pirates). When such unowned/undrafted prospects are brought up to the majors, then they go through the normal free agent waiver claim process. For Major League players, if they are not protected by the franchise owner when he lists his major league keeper list (prior to the start of the season's draft), then they will be available for the major league draft or waiver wire if not drafted.
5. INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS:
In order to keep a level playing field, this rule applies to International players signing contracts to play in the Major Leagues.
a.) If an international player signs a contract prior to our Major League draft and is placed on the team's 40 man roster, then that international player is open for drafting in the Major League draft (should be available in yahoo for drafting).
b.) If that international player signs his contract after the Major League draft has started, they are not eligible for drafting. If they are added to the 40-man roster and Yahoo, then they will go through waivers / free agency or could be considered for the minor league draft that season.
c.) If that international player signs a contract (prior to our Major League draft or even after it has started) with a Major League team and is not added to the team's 40-man roster (most likely NOT listed in the yahoo database, but could be --- hopefully not) then they are then awarded to the team that signs them. If they are then owned by another team not owned in the CSC league, then they will be eligible for the minor league draft.
