Just to clarify... For this year we don't have to protect any drafted players from our organizations real life 2010 n 2009 june drafts correct? For example; Oakland still has the rights to Grant Green [2009 draftee] this season; but next season he would have to put him on his 20 man protected list.
I know this is what the scenario was; all of this is still staying the same right?

I think we were trying to get rid of that part too, but I could be wrong. In real-life, 2010 draftees can't be traded until a year after they sign anyway. So, it's sort of irrelevant.
I'm open to keeping the "not needing to protect guys from the last 2 drafts" concept, if that's what the collective league wants.
Haggs?

I know this is what the scenario was; all of this is still staying the same right? Franchise players are never available for the minor league draft. The only purpose of the 20 man protected list for our franchise players is to retain them in case of actual real life trades. So in the example of Green above, he remains property of the A's until he reaches 225 AB per rule 6. Then he would need to added to the major league keeper list for the next winter/spring major league draft or he then becomes a FA.

True, Ken. But I think the question is around whether a guy like Green, who is just beginning pro ball, can stay outside your protected 20 and still be safe from being traded.
I'm in favor of continuing to simplify wherever possible. Too many scenarios to dream up and we'll have waaaaaay too many rules as each scenario arises.

So if Grant Green got traded this year to my team the Blue Jays..then I'd own him bc he's not on the A's 20 man protected roster?

That rule that we don't have to add players one or two years after they were drafted was done away with either last year or the year before. So yes if for some reason a guy who was drafted in real life in 2010 gets traded the next day after he signs (which is against the mlb rules, but for the sake of our conversation.....) and was not on the protected list....he then goes to the team he was traded to.
