I'm deleting the whole discussion... Everybody needs to just let it go and not respond. As suggested previously, take your issues to PMs if you need to. Let's move forward and draft. Thanks Jim. Let's put this behind us and move forward.

Jeez. This seems like such a benign issue to get all hot & bothered over. It seems like common sense that a Fantasy Baseball league surrounding PROFESSIONAL baseball should be limited to actual professional baseball players (i.e., not college or high school with "amateur eligibility"). Even with the international players, these guys are already professionals in the country they are coming over for. How this could possibly impact someone's draft strategy is beyond me. TW, you go after Bundy for being condescending but ultimately did the same thing to Winker. Can we just move on with something that we all find some shred of enjoyment in before it becomes something we don't enjoy? I'm afraid you're missing the point. It's not about the rule change -- but its timing. In all leagues I have ever played, no rules are ever instituted 5 days before the holding of a draft. Secondly, if you see my first few posts on this (before Bundy got his panties in a bunch), I specifically stated that I would abide by any decision taken. Unfortunately, Bundy decided it wasn't enough for him to encourage the holding of a poll to institute a new rule for the current season, he felt entitled to posture. I'm entitled to my opinion, just like you are. I stated it in a polite manner. Third, there was a smiley next to my answer to Winker. If Winker has a problem with my comment, he can take it up with me. I doubt he needs another mod to chaperone for him. Don't worry, you won't get better trade offers from him just because you stood up for him here. ;D Ultimately, and I am restating the point yet again since it is being confused with the degree of the rule change rather than its timing -- rules in most fantasy leagues, are always phased in toward a future season, not implemented a few days before the holding of a draft. Secondly, we have already held a poll on this issue at the beginning of last season, with a view to deciding what we should do this year. The motion to proceed with the current rule, did NOT pass. Poll was held on Scoreboards. So what you're saying is, why don't we keep holding polls until you get the result you want? Last year's poll has already decided the issue for this year. Would it not make sense to hold a new poll to decide the issue for 2013? This is what I mean by introducing new rules ahead of time, so that everyone has the opportunity to put them in proper perspective. With all due respect to the new owners, none of them have had the opportunity to directly experience the particular dynamics of our draft and how prospects should be valued in the context of using bench room as opposed to a reserve system. Yet, they are being asked to vote on a rule change a few days before a draft. I believe it is the commish's responsibility to foster a climate of constancy, in such a manner that any changes are introduced gradually. The league has functioned under the same rules since its inception. As much as I respect Bundy as a commish, I believe he should have exercised greater restraint in the way the current rule change was handled. Someone said "jump" and he answered "how high". Like I said, this is not about Bundy, but about the way most leagues are run. Rule changes are just not appropriate 5 days before a draft. Again, I will abide by the new rule. Maybe Bundy could have just focused on that part of my post and left it at that and we could have moved on. But no, better to put down anyone who has a different opinion than he does.

Those changes would effect our keepers, so no. The changes you have instituted will affect my ability to canvas potential keepers. But, that's not the point, really. It's about how rules are introduced. Seems like it just takes someone to post a question and all of a sudden, it becomes a rule change idea a few days before a draft. I have kept the discussion civil throughout. That's a low blow and totally uncalled for. You may be a league commish, but that doesn't entitle you to make condescending remarks.

If the league members vote on it? Yes...crystal clear. Why don't we conduct several other polls on shortening our bench, doing away with the 2 UT spots, going 5X5 instead of 6X6? Let's do it, we still have 5 days before our draft. Plenty of time.

The rule is now clear that you can set up a new poll a few days before a draft and change the rules within a very short delay.
Yes, that much is clear.

Preventing the league from drafting college & high school players changes your draft prep??? I have my methods, you have yours. ;D Point is, there should always be an expectation of constancy when it comes to rules. Any changes that are made should be considered toward another year, rather than intrude on what have been the rules of this league since its inception. If this is allowed, what might prevent you from starting a new poll about changing positional designations, counting stats, ratio stats, bench room, etc. Not a great precedent for a longstanding league. Anyway, do as you like. I'm just a lowly servant in a no-prize league.

I respectfully disagree. The poll changes the rules which impact on my draft prep.
Plus, we had already conducted a similar poll in-season last year, toward this year's draft.
I find that any rule changes intended for a current year, esp. a few days before a draft, set a bad precedent.

Conducting polls that change the rules a few days before a draft is objectionable, to say the least.
I won't vote on this out of principle.
I think the more reasonable thing to do would have been to conduct the poll with a view to instituting changes toward next year.
That said, I will abide to any decision taken.
Just my 2 cents.
