For the 2007 Minor League Draft Order.....I can't remember where I posted this, or if it was ever posted.....
The draft order was to be what the yahoo standings order is at the time of the draft.......we can go this route.....as I can't find where I posted that.........any thoughts to this?
The draft will start this coming Monday, July 9th at 8 am with 8 hours in between picks. It will be a 4 round draft. From 8am until midnight - those are the hours that the clock will run....of course poicks can be made during off clock hours.

Yahoo standings at the time of the draft is fine with me, if that's the route we go. I'm assuming we would use a Snake style draft?
In Year 1, we DID NOT use a Snake style draft for the big league draft (because everyone was selecting franchises and therefore whoever picked their franchise last had a bit of a disadvantage). But, we DID use a Snake style draft for the minor league draft.
For future years, my thoughts would be this:
1.) Snake style draft (i.e., 1-12 in Rounds 1 & 3 and 12-1 in Rounds 2 & 4) 2.) Minor League Draft starts at the All-Star Break 3.) Draft Order determined by standings at the All-Star break
Of course the following would still be true:
a.) Prior to the draft (perhaps 2 weeks prior?), owners would decide what 4 players from their normal 20-man "protected list" would become "unprotected". Therefore creating a 16-man "protected list" prior to the draft.
b.) Owners draft their picks during the draft according to established time limits. Missed picks fall to the end of the draft (unless we decide to let them get picked as soon as the owner is back online).
c.) After the draft, owners need to re-establish a new 20-man "protected list" that includes their original 16 keepers and any new draftees. Since some owners may acquire more than 4 Minor League picks, there will end up being some guys that get cut loose.
The good part about doing the draft at the All-Star Break is that the current year's Amateur Draft will have already occurred in June, therefore there are new draftees that can be selected in this draft.
Sound good to everybody? Anyone have other recommendations?

TFAZ, do you think you can throw together BA's top 10 list for each team ala last year for the draft?

I think the above rules are fine. I would like to add that I would like for our number of keepers to be increased for next season.
I can't see taking the time to plan for a minor league draft & having a minor league keeper roster only to be able to keep 18 players for next season.
Most franchise leagues that I have been in have your big league team's players owned by you only (ex: Haggs would be the only team that could pick up & drop Mets players) & the number of keepers is at least 25.
Some of the leagues allow you to not even declare keepers & only drop players from your roster as you draft new players. (this allows you to skip over a say a 4th round pick if you think the players on your roster are better than what is on the waiver wire)
Just suggestions.

That is something we will be discussing and other issues that we will need to bring up for next season....once this draft is done.
I do think that we need to increase the # of keepers but we'll do that at a later time.

I will try to get the Baseball America list worked out this evening...
I'm still not convinced that everyone out there has solidified their Minor League lists.
Haggs: I think you and I need to review everyone's lists before we start the draft.

For picks that are missed by their owners, are we letting them "hop back in" whenever they make it online to the site? This is what we did for the Major League Draft this year.

Yes.....whenever they get a chance to pick.............they are just losing out on players as others pick after them.

Haggs:
We need to review everybody's Minor League list and see if there are players that: a.) Need to be added to the Major League roster, or b.) should be forfeited to the Major League Free Agent Pool.
So, by your definition, that means that Craig Hansen & Kendry Morales can still be protected since they were not on the Red Sox or Angels Opening Day rosters (but did eclipse the minimums in 2006)?
Please confirm and I will add them back to my list.

Yep....as long as they were optioned out by their club down to the minors, we have that option as well......

Why don't you PM me a few teams you'll look over and I'll PM a few that I'm glancing at so we don't waste time on the same teams.

OK. I have added Hansen and Morales back to my list, due to your further clarification.
OF David Murphy and RP Jermaine Van Buren (former Red Sox prospect, now in Nationals organization) have been unprotected.
