Jim, when he flames out, maybe he'll let you stay with his family on the next Elco vacation to Hawaii?!? In the spirit of Aloha, he should reward you in some way for your trust and good faith.... Red Sox no ka oi...... I'll settle for the cutest wahini in his family. Oh wait, that whole married with kids thing is getting in the way. How about a big bowl of poi then?

I agree with this.. Maybe we should start the draft next year after the August deadline has passed. This being my 1st year here I never even thought of the signing draft picks deadline until the other day when I happened to stumble upon it somewhere, this after I allready picked 3 players in this draft.

I dont know about all this but I know if the Marlins take a draft pick that wasnt signed this year next year and sign him, I am going to be annoyed if I lose that pick. I think some kind of compensation equal to what they are losing should be given to that team.
I also agree that next years draft should be held at the end of the draft signing period.

Sorry guys, as I've been in some meetings and such...
Regarding the draft - I wanted to have the draft sometime between the beginning of the season but before the MLB draft in June. We did this the first year, but last year and this year we have gone past June draft.
Now that we are three seasons into this league, I will agree with the rest of you that we should aim for August to have the minor league draft every year. This will allow us to do a couple of things: 1. We can get a better view of stats/reports on the minor leaguers that we may draft, as they have a good part of the season under their belt. 2. We have the June draft and also time allotted afterward to see if they sign with their parent drafting team. 3. It gives us something to do, besides football drafts in the late summer / fall time.
As far as us drafting those players that may not sign with their team and thus go to college. These are my thoughts. 1. I think this opens the door for possibly too many loopholes if we allow the teams to keep the rights of those (our league) drafted players who ultimately did not sign back with their (real life) drafting team that year. a. For instance, what happens if a team say....the Giants draft a very talented kid out of H.S. He is drafted by the Mets in our minor league draft. But the kid decides to go to college. he then needs to spend 3 years in college before being eligible for the draft. That's a while to keep tabs on #1. Second of all, what if then the kid is real good and then is drafted (in real life) by the Red Sox in the 1st round - or is even the #1 overall pick to a team in our league. How does the compensation work? - There are just a lot of questions that could loom now and down the road if we said we'll allow teams to keep the players we drafted and then didn't sign with their team.
I would say that if you draft someone and he doesn't sign, you lose his rights and you can get a compensatory pick in the same spot in next year's draft.

Haggs, sounds fair enough to me, you might need to remind later that I agreed with you.
I'll select Jake Arrirta SP Balt.

I like the compensatory pick as well. I just looked at this year's draft and several teams could be affected by players threatening to hold out and miss their signing deadline. If this happens, I think it's fair that they receive a draft pick next year in that same position (similar in fact to how MLB itself would handle this scenario).
Good compromise. But with that said, I'm not rolling the dice on any unsigned players. ;D

Damn, just saw a story that my boy "Buster Douglas" Posey just signed with the Giants with 9 minutes to spare before the deadline..... Giants GM Sabean, already tied to a stake with torches lighted, gets a last minute reprieve..... But the natives are still very restless

There were some upset Ranger fans as well as it looked as if Smoak wouldn't be signed. With it confirmed Aaron Crow wasn't signing with the Nats and appeared Smoak wasn't, I fired myself as GM.
I'll take:
Micheal Brantley, OF, Brewers.
======= [TFAZ Edit: Corrected spelling of Brantley]

Cards interested in trading for a 4th round pick in this minor league draft. I'll send an equivalent draft pick in next year's minor league draft or a prospect from my system.
Send me an PM on this site or email me from the Yahoo site.
Thanks,
-Todd (CardsGM)

WVTF, give yourself a 2nd chance. Sabean has made 30 moves all worse than anything you've done - even on your ugliest day.

Blue Jays are up........I'm not sure that Mercado will go, so if the Angels do pick - I don't think it will be that big of a deal. Just my two cents.
