Confirmed and Uhhhhhh Selected by The Boston Red Sox's with the 40th overall pick and then traded to The New York Yankees...... Edinson VOLQUEZ • Starting Pitcher • Texas RangersRoto:
With the exception on an eight-start stint in the California League in 2004, Volquez hasn't posted a sub-4.00 ERA at any level. Still, he emerged as an excellent pitching prospect last season. He struggled in the majors, but he was only promoted because the Rangers were particularly desperate. In the minors, he used a 91-96 mph fastball, a plus changeup and an improved curveball to post a 128/29 K/BB ratio in 127 1/3 IP, making him the latest in a long line of Dominican right-handers to earn comparisons to Pedro Martinez. While he's not getting to that level, he has as much upside as any pitcher in the Texas system. It would be for the best if the Rangers could get through this year without turning to him again but odds are that he'll spend some additional time in the rotation during the summer. Fantasy value probably won't come until 2007.

I told a GM I would wait for a Counter offer. Therefore I will be making my pick by noon if I do not hear from him.

Canes, I'm confused... How did JC Romero suddenly get into your trade with Ray? Are you dropping him after the deal or was he included in the deal to simplify the Yahoo side of things?

I will be dropping him after the trade goes thru. Since Randy johnson is a uncutable player per Yahoo, I had to have a one for one trade.

Sorry for the hold up, All the wasted time for naught. The Yankees feel that this High Risk/ High Reward pick could not be passed up. In doing so The New York Yankees select....Chris NELSON • Shortstop • Colorado Rockies.
Fox: The ninth-overall pick of the 2004 draft, Nelson has a full complement of tools. However, his offensive numbers took a serious hit last season at High-A Asheville. On the other hand, a nagging hamstring injury may have had something to do with his struggles. This season, Nelson is back at Asheville and faring better. He has the bat speed and raw power to become an impact player at the highest level, but the numbers need to reflect that promise.

So, is Ray picking Romero back up, or was that the guy he was planning on dropping to make room for Johnson?
